Indian Premier League (IPL)
Initially, the Indian Premier League (IPL) was an eight-team league. However, the number of teams increased to ten for the fourth season. The fourth season of IPL featured two new franchises: Kochi Tuskers and Lucknow Super Giants. The IPL’s format is based on the same structure as the cricket Liga of England. It is played in a home-and-away round robin style, with each team playing against an equal team twice.
In the first season of IPL, the Gujarat Titans won the title. The other teams that took part were the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Daredevils, Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians and Punjab XI Kings.
There IPL also introduced the Most Valuable Player rating system. At the end of the season, the leader of the MVP rating system is crowned as the “Most Valuable Player” of the tournament.
The Indian Premier League was launched in 2008. It has become the dominant sport in India and is watched by over 200 million people on television. The league is administered by the Board of Control for Cricket liga in India (BCCI).
Traditionally, IPL is played between April and May. The official IPL app has press conferences, match highlights and recaps. It is available on Google Play and the Apple Store.
A team earns one point for each abandoned game. Each team is allocated a maximum of 20 overs per game. The fielding side must reach the target within the allotted overs. the fielding side fails to do so, the side batting second loses.
Grand Prairie Stadium (GPS)
Located in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, Grand Prairie is an ideal location for a premier cricket stadium. It is close to DFW International Airport and has a strong fan base for the sport. This makes the city an ideal home for Major League Cricket’s inaugural Texas franchise.
The new MLC team will play at the AirHogs Stadium, a baseball stadium that once served as the home of the Texas AirHogs of the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball (AAIP). The former minor league ballpark will be converted to a world-class cricket facility. This redevelopment is scheduled to begin in 2021.
The renovation will include the installation of a premium seating experience around the playing field. It will also include a renovated sports bar, an enhanced Hall of Fame room and two additional outside turf fields. The project will cost $20 million.
The redevelopment of AirHogs Stadium is the first step towards creating the first major cricket stadium in the United States. It will also serve as a high-performance center for the USA Cricket national team. It will also be a part of USA Cricket’s efforts to bring the ICC T20 World Cup to the United States by 2031.
The city of Grand Prairie has been approved for a long-term lease agreement with Major League Cricket. This will allow the redevelopment of the stadium to be completed by spring 2023.
